What fun! I took Susan Lenart Kazmer’s class, “Caging Common Objects”, yesterday and it was a blast! She is by far one of the most entertaining teachers I know! Time just flies and students seldom leave early. At the end of class, students were still tinkering and adding finishing touches to their projects when Susan asked everyone to assemble for “show and tell”. Several students made rings and others made pendants. I chose the latter and created this caged pendant. It holds a deep blue azurite crystal, which I found at a gem shop in Maui. Azurite is believed to have healing powers and metaphysical properties. The cage is suspended from bronze wire strung on leather and accented with a bone bead and colorful faceted beads. I’m very pleased with this piece!
