I’ve been working on these beaded beads over the past few days. Not only did I enjoy the process of making them and the instant gratification they provide, they also serve as a way to explore color combinations. If one is at all unsure as to which shades look best when combined, beads serve as mini records that can be kept as a permanent collection of favorite color combos. It’s always great to have a stash of components like these on hand. I have several ideas for new earring designs and will be using some of these beads in those projects. Thanks to Jean Power’s “Geometric Beadwork” and Kate McKinnon’s “Contemporary Geometric Beadwork”, beading is now such an exciting endeavor that I can hardly put needle and thread down!

Love it! Beaded beads are such great maquettes not only to test colours, but size and finish. Different beads make such different forms. Matte, shiny, coated, galvanized….
I just got a fabulous necklace of huge beaded beads in the mail from JoAnn Baumann- I want to have a whole section on maquettes and beaded beads, so I’m thrilled to see that you are making them too!
Wow! These beaded beads are so excellent!
Thanks, Valery! There’s nothing quite so satisfying as a fun project that gives immediate gratification!
