Practically everything has an expiration date. When it comes to art supplies, thankfully metal lasts forever! Polymer clay may get a bit crumbly as it dries out with age, but that can be remedied with the addition of liquid polymer clay. Not so with epoxy resin clay…its shelf life at best is two years. While rummaging through some drawers in my studio I came across a pack of epoxy resin clay that should have been used a year ago. Not one to let anything go to waste, I figured I’d better make something with it post-haste! I gathered a selection of silicone molds and rolled and kneaded the hardening clay until it softened a bit and became pliable enough to work with. It made several nice impressions of seashells that can be used in bead embroidery or set in bezels with metal projects. Now, I’d better check the expiration of my resin supply…if not used by or shortly after its expiration date, it becomes gooey and doesn’t cure. I have a feeling I’ll be spending time working with resin very soon!
