Lately I seem to be gravitating toward floral themed jewelry. Over the past few years I have designed quite a few floral themed pieces…the ”Rainforest Flora” bracelet, “Fantasy Flora” cuff, “Floral Brooch”, and “Forbidden Fruit” drop earrings. My latest polymer clay works are following suit with the “Climbing Roses” bangle followed by three rings that sport a large violet, camellia, and poppy. I think much of this flower-influenced jewelry is the product of living in a climate where winters are long and cold. Our present winter has been particularly frigid. It is obvious that I long to see the Redbuds and Dogwoods in bloom and the awakening of the flowers in the beds along our front porch and in our prairie! I’ve just finished creating these “Petal Drop Earrings” as a reminder that spring weather will arrive in a few weeks. A tutorial for making these earrings will follow shortly!
