Putting my Fretzforming stakes to the test, I forged this pod using a piece of copper sheet, then textured it by hitting the inside with a Fretz hammer so the outside of the pod has tiny protruding bumps. The next question was what to fill the hollow form with. Resin was a consideration, but I opted to use polymer clay and am very pleased with the results! I first pressed ivory polymer clay into the form and made small half spheres running down the center of the pod. I then pressed a flexible texture sheet against it to embed tiny veins. A mixture of green, yellow, and white polymer clay was used to make the peas. After baking the pod, russet colored acrylic paint was applied to the ivory clay, then sanded a bit so the russet remained only in the veins. A 24" sterling silver ball chain and toggle-clasp is the finishing touch.
