I had a wonderful time creating this piece and I'm so pleased with the end result!Watching the design evolve row by row as a variety of colors were added and subtracted and the expanding width of the flared edge with every increase was a joy. Whereas some projects can become quite monotonous, I was kept alert as this design demanded full attention to the placement of each and every bead. Even more of a challenge was the fact that it ended up too large for my wrist! I had anticipated that it would "pull in" and tighten a great deal more as the design progressed from the initial eighty-four units of modified right angle weave and it did somewhat, but hardly enough! To make the bangle smaller, I worked extra rows of Delicas, 15/0 seed beads, and Charlottes along the inside circumference and created a ridge, which actually enhanced the piece by imparting a firmer structure and preventing it from collapse. Now that this piece is finished, I am contemplating a design for a wide geometric cuff. It will definitely start with fewer units and grow to six points rather than seven. Whereas this piece is awash in vibrant shades of shimmering purple, raspberry, orange, and matte teal accented with metallic gold, I think I'll choose a bold palette of black, ivory, and red enhanced with metallic gold and steel for the next project. I can't wait to get started!
