Sweet moments...

FamilyFarm_Nebraska

This morning as I was in the kitchen cutting stems from garden fresh green beans, a lovely warm breeze wafted through the windows broadcasting the sounds of summer via a chorus of cicadas. My mind was immediately flooded with childhood memories of being in the kitchen of my grandparent's farmhouse in Nebraska so many summers ago. As my mother and aunts helped Grandma prepare dinner, I watched Aunt Dorothy slicing the stems from green beans, just as I was at this moment in time. I was knee-high to a grasshopper back then, playing house under the kitchen table and watching the flurry of activity as my Uncle Ben and the hired hands came in from the fields. There was a lovely innocence to life back then. I treasure those memories.  It's hard to believe that I am now older than my grandmother was then! I'm that little tow-headed girl in the center being held by my mother who is standing next to Grandma. In the top photo, I accompanied Uncle Ben on his tractor and in the following photo Aunt Joann is making sure that cousins Patty and Margaret and I are behaving as we pose for the camera. Sixty-some years have passed since then...where did the time go? Okay, enough nostaligia...it's beading time!
