If you're a metalsmith, one "must have" tool is the dapping block. I have a collection of dapping blocks, both large and small, some made of wood and several made of steel. This is my prized dapping block and punch set and I use it almost on a daily basis. It was purchased from Rio Grande, a company that offers excellent service and tools of exceptional quality. This versatile set allows the possibility of not only making many different sized spheres from flat round metal disks, but the punches, while sitting upright in their slots, can be used for forming subtle curves in metal. And I find the 7.4mm punch is just the perfect size for bending half-hard sterling silver wire to make earwires. Many a lentil bead has been made using this set!
