Ring-a-Ling…

I had been working on this ring for a while. Hanging something from the horizontal crossbar had become a bit of a conundrum. First I tried hanging three tiny lightweight chains at each side of the focal stone, but they tended to flop around to the backs of the ring when worn. I tried several other types of dangles and they weren’t pleasing to my eye. Finally I settled on using 20 gauge wires with balled-ends that I formed into tiny twisted-end adjoining loops that I’m very pleased with!

There is a fine balance when working with embellishments…they should enhance a design rather than ‘steal the thunder’ from the main piece. This ring took on an ornamental look from the get go with the gallery wire bezel and crown. The beautiful Kingsman turquoise cabochon is flanked by small gemstone cabochons of citrine and aquamarine in textured bezels and backing. With the three shot plate-formed silver elements at the base of the ring I had to ‘tread lightly’ when adding the final components. Needles to say, I’m very please with the results!
