Polymer Clay Beads ala Pebbles Flintstone!

Do you remember “The Flintstones” series, which first aired in 1960? It wasn’t until 1963 that Pebbles Flintstone was introduced (born on February 22, 10,000 B.C. at the Bedrock Rockapedic Hospital according to TV Guide). As a kid, I loved watching that cartoon series! I didn’t really have that show or Pebbles in mind when I created these beads. I just wanted colorful shapes that resembled weathered pebbles. Upon completion, my first thought was that Pebbles would have loved to play with these! Several techniques were employed in making these beads – blended custom colors with a bit of Mokume gane, some checkerboard caning, and applied texture. The next step is to make several beads in this same style using bronze metal clay. A necklace featuring beads of both materials will follow. It’s going to be a fun project!
