One of my favorite mediums is…
Polymer clay – I’ve been working with it for the past few days. I admit that I'd like to spend more time playing with this very versatile medium. Metal smithing and beading tend to consume huge chunks of my time. However, I do want to incorporate more polymer clay in my work. Now that I’ve caught up on various projects and have finished writing patterns for the time being, I’m scheduling time to create with this wonderful material. Fortunately, polymer clay has an almost forever shelf life so all my little bricks of color wait patiently in a drawer for me. I have ideas for some new bangles and a necklace made of carved beads. Having a fondness for jewelry making tools, I find myself covering them in colorful textures, transforming them from ordinary utilitarian objects into little sculptural treasures that are not only eye candy, but also a joy to use. Doing this allows me to experiment with different techniques like Mokume-gane and carving on a small scale. Best of all, I'm having a lot of fun!
