With every spring comes a celebration of new life. Plants that seem to have died over the winter burst forth with an abundance of glorious and colorful new growth. Blossoms appear, migrating birds return, and animals and insects that hibernate during the winter months emerge from a long slumber. On that note, here is a piece from my collection of enameled works that I feel represents life anew. Pea and bean pods made from sterling silver sheet slide along a sterling snake chain. They were hollow-formed on my trusty Bonny Doone hydraulic press. The focal piece is bean-shaped and shows a pea pod and leafy branch with berries done in fine silver cloisonné enamel on copper. An oxidized cast twig, a white pearl, and hematite bead rest at the top. An oval garnet is housed in the bezeled clasp.
