I live in the country surrounded by flora and fauna, so nature is an enormous influence in my life and work. Deer wander and sleep in the woodland and prairie that surrounds our home. Fox, rabbits, opossums, and other critters visit on a daily basis. Now in the midst of autumn, trees are beginning to display bare branches and it is easy to spot owls, hawks, and other birds perching with feathers fluffed as they attempt to warm themselves from the cold. We’ve had our first snow flurry of the season and it won’t be long before everything is blanketed in pristine white. I’ve just finished the above Amulet which I’ve titled “Nature Spirit”. Shown on a 6mm leather cord, components used in this piece are deer antler, a fine silver cast twig, Mastodon bone, carved bone, and a Labradorite cabochon. Wearing this piece imparts a sense of being grounded and calm…at one with nature and creatures great and small.
