It seems like it's taken an eternity, but....

It's finally here...I'm perusing Jean Power's long-awaited "Geometric Beadwork - Volume 2"! For those who like beading books that contain projects, this offers a plethora of fresh takes on triangular and square-shaped bead woven pieces. Those of us who already own Jean's first book, "Geometric Beadwork" (not to be confused with Kate McKinnon's "Contemporary Geometric Beadwork") will see a bit of repetition on the Terminology/Tips, Materials/Tools, and Basics pages, but a refresher is good, especially if you don't have her other book at hand. Jean's beautiful "Heroine" necklace, which appeared in Beadwork magazine, is featured on pages 59 - 63 followed by a gallery of "Heroine" necklaces executed by others. There are also instructions for a variation of the necklace and directions for bezeling crystals. Delica and seed beads comprise the majority of pieces, but pearls, Miyuki Tila, bugle and firepolished beads, are used as well. The book is well written and illustrated and if I weren't creating my own designs, I'd definitely dive into several of Jean's projects! If you love geometric beading, this is a good book to have in your collection!
