It’s not always easy to make a pair of matching earrings…

With bronze metal clay, even if two exact pieces are placed next to each other in a kiln, I find the color of the metal on the finished pieces can differ drastically and/or they have shrunk at different rates leaving one earring slightly smaller or larger than its mate.  I’m not quite sure why this happens, but I was pretty lucky with this pair of earrings from my “Princess Ananka” collection.  The dangling cicadas came out the kiln in the same golden bronze color with a satin finish and there was no need to tumble them.  I placed them on 20 gauge Argentium silver ball end wires and added components of textured sterling pyramid beads and a 4mm round hematite bead to each before bending the ear wires.   They measure 45mm in length and are shown on my polymer clay and steel sculptural earring stand.
