I’m having a difficult time accomplishing anything during these delightful summer days! I take beadwork out onto the screened porch and work a few rows, but then my attention is averted to a goldfinch scolding me for being outside and too close to its nest or my eye catches sight of a soaring red tailed hawk or eagle. I notice a wasp that is trapped inside the screen that I rescue and release. The cicadas start to sing as a breeze sweeps through. A beading pattern that I’m designing becomes airborne blowing off the table. The relaxation I am feeling places me in an hypnotic trance and before I know it, the morning is gone and I realize the afternoon will not be productive either so I walk along our prairie path marveling at the Butterfly Weed, Purple Coneflower, Black-eyed Susan, and Wild Senna that are in bloom. I decide that beadwork and other projects can wait. There will be time enough during our long, cold winter to work in the metals and beading studios. Right now it’s all too beautiful to let a moment escape and I feel so very fortunate to have the time to take it all in!
