Terre Nova, Polymer Clay at the Crossroads” is a show you won’t want to miss. Running fromOctober 21, 2011 through February 5, 2012 the Racine Art Museum features more than 180 polymer works from artists such as Kathleen Dustin, Tory Hughes, Cynthia Toops, Pier Voulkos, Elise Winters, Jeffrey Lloyd Dever, and Bonnie Bishoff and J.M. Syron…all pioneers in this medium which is finally being recognized as a serious material for creating art. For far too many years, polymer clay was dismissed by the art world as a molding compound for craft projects made by children. Well, move over ‘cause polymer clay artists are finally having their day! Browsing through the book that accompanies the exhibit, I’m amazed at the beautiful and innovative works these artists have created. I just want to drop everything and rush to play with polymer clay!
