MetalsStudio

I’m tackling the task of cleaning and reorganizing my metals studio. I have the TV rolled up to the door so I can listen and occasionally look up to see what Bill Fretz is teaching on an instructional DVD. A fire screen is pushed up against the door to prevent the cats from wandering in, yet allowing them to see what I'm doing.  Many hours of sorting through everything on my workbench, shelves, and soldering bench will be spent to neaten up this space.  I'm using one of my new storage cabinets to store coils of wire and metal sheet along with various found objects, cabochons, and beads that I often use in my mixed media work. Instead of cluttering my workspace with dozen of tiny containers, I'll just pull out a tray and easily slide it back in when I'm finished!  The process of creating art is messy and when one project is finished, I’m ready to jump right in and start the next project!  As a consequence, my studios eventually always end up in utter chaos. When tools get buried under other items and I literally can’t find anything I’m looking for (often when it's right under my nose!), I know it’s time to put projects on hold, roll up my sleeves, and devote my energy to tidying my studios. Needless to say, I will be thrilled when everything is once again in order and I can get back to creating!
