During the past few weeks I've been honing my skills with my NTAJ (Now That's a Jig!). I purchased the starter kit, which includes the jig and pegs last June and I've been adding accessories over the past few months…oval pucks for making cuffs are the latest addition! They join round bangle and ring sizers, teardrop, triangular, and square pucks, plus lots and lots of steel wire in different gauges! I like steel for ring bands and cuffs…it's incredibly strong, holds shape well, and takes hammer texturing beautifully! Of course, I like working with silver best of all, but steel is perfect for trying out new forms and shapes when experimenting and it has the added advantage of resembling oxidized silver at a more economical price point. I have thus far made five rings and one cuff that are adorned with Polymer clay. I'm presently adding embellishment to several bangles and I have ideas for lots of earrings that I can't wait to play with...I'm having so much fun!
