I can’t count the number of times…

I heard the recitation of “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” among my grade school classmates.   That phrase was usually followed with  “Nah, nahnie, boo boo” and punctuated with the child sticking his/her tongue out.    Thank heavens we’ve outgrown that phase, but as with so many childhood rhymes, that one is etched in my brain and with that theme in mind, I created this whimsical pendant.   The text “Sticks and Stones” is embedded in resin on the fron

t of the pendant and “Words will never hurt me” is embedded on the reverse side.  Tiny twigs, glass shards, and a light sprinkle of “fairie dust” (aka glitter) are included.  A smooth pebble dangles from sterling wire at the bottom.   The pendant swings from a hammered sterling silver bail created by wrapping the sterling wire around a cast bronze twig.   A 30″ antiqued sterling silver chain composed of large irregular links and a toggle/clasp closure completes the necklace.   This is definitely a statement piece!
