After a pleasant and thankfully uneventful drive home, I'm back in my studio and ready to get to work! You can bet I'll be putting the tools I made in Richard Salley's class to good use. I have enough steel stock to make several more aside from the scribes, forming, and stamping tools (shown here) that I finished in class. Taking Toolmaking 101 demystified the process and I was so surprised that it really is relatively easy to make custom tools with steel rod providing you have basic metal smithing equipment: saw, files, tweezers, and torch are really all one needs to make simple tools. I highly recommend this class and chances are he will offer the class at next year's Bead and Button Show.
