An article about Madeleine Albright's pins and how they are used to communicate thoughts and emotions reminded me of a pin that I have not worn in quite some time. I made it in 1995 and it was created in a fit of emotion, hurt, and anger toward some one who dared to utter some terribly hurtful words. The brooch is make of 18k gold bimetal, sterling silver, nickel, bronze, brass, and copper. The arms are carved from Micarta. The face is fine silver cloisonné enamel on copper. In creating this scornful looking woman with "Words that must be eaten are hard to digest" embedded on her body, I found a wonderful release and every time I wore it, I felt even better. It's great that jewelry can have that effect, isn't it?
