I crave more than ever before an atmosphere of peace, comfort, and protection. This desire has been the impetus for my latest project, which I’ve titled “Tantra Meditation Amulet”. I have devoted much of summer to creating this project. The design features a geometric beaded “Temple” component and Ganesha bead, one of the most distinctive Hindu deities. With his large elephant head and human body, he is revered as the remover of obstacles with supreme power to ensure success as well as create obstructions for those whose ambition has become destructive...very fitting for our world today, don’t you think? The Temple beaded component and Ganesha bead are accompanied by handmade accent floral-themed beads that I created with shrink plastic, subtlety colored to resemble frosted glass. All are strung
on a long tassel. The amulet can be used a number of ways...as a pendant or attached to a strand of Mala beads (prayer beads) or attached to an article of clothing or accessory. I am working on the tutorial for this project and will offer the kit in three colourways (teal/mauve, green/purple, and cinnabar/blue) with several options. The first option is everything needed to created the Temple bead along with a tassel, Ganesha bead and two handmade floral-themed beads as shown at right in the photo. The second option includes beads for making the Temple and all the extra components as shown in the amulet at the center. The third option includes everything as in the second option, but also includes enough beads to create a beaded rope that will slip on to an included neck ring. I'm presently putting finishing touches on the tutorial. I hope to have kits ready for listing in my Etsy shop along with the tutorial in a week or so. For now, I’ll sign off with the 1960’s mantra...Peace.
