Bittersweet...

image

I usually travel to Chicago once or twice a year to window-shop the seasonal fashions, visit art galleries, and enjoy the sites the city offers as well as the beautiful flora along Michigan Avenue. This past weekend's jaunt to the "Windy City" was quite different as I accompanied my husband downtown for his final trip to DePaul University...a rite of passage indeed. Having taught at the university level for a total of forty years, he has finally retired. It seemed strange entering his office for the last time. He cleared out his desk drawer, removed books from the shelves, and cut his ID in half, leaving it behind along with his office keys as he walked away from that chapter in his life.
