Perhaps watching all those 1940’s mummy movies has contributed to the rhythm in my recent works. Everything has an ancient look about it – as if each piece had been unearthed during archeological excavations. It started several months ago when I created an ankh with bronze metal clay. Now I’m making beads with polymer clay that look like worn marble, soapstone, and alabaster and using them in collars and necklaces and brooches. Bronze metal clay is used to create accent beads. Usually my short attention span dictates that my pieces be an amalgam of styles ranging from whimsical to ultra-sleek and anything in between. So making a series of pieces that have a common theme and comprise a collection is a rather unique occurrence for me. This piece is composed of polymer clay faux marble beads interspersed with bronze metal clay disks and is titled “Antiquities Collar”.
