In my enameling days...perhaps I should say daze, I had looked through the various cabochans in my stash and came across a large piece of fossilized dinosaur bone. It seemed the right shape and size to serve as the body portion of a brooch. I came up with the idea for a Shaman of sorts and enameled a face which I set into a fine silver bezel. The arms, which I carved from a sheet of Micarta - a material used frequently by knife makers because it carves so easily, were attached with brass rivets. My Shaman's feet are made of 14k gold and one dangling freshwater pearl. I look at this piece now and still like it very much, but I can't help but think that the face looks a bit like Mr. Bill, the manipulated and squashed clay-like character on Saturday Night Live from twenty years ago. Oh, nooooooooo!
