It’s a song I first heard on the album “She Cried” by Jay and the Americans in 1962. I was in 8 grade then and I played that record so much that the lyrics are permanently etched in my brain. The song played again and again in my head and I hummed the tune repeatedly as I worked the metal for these floral-themed earrings.
The textured 22-gauge sterling silver flowers used in these earrings were cut out with two dies; one measuring an 1" in width and the other measuring 3/4". Each stacked blossom is held together with a rivet made by soldering 16-gauge wire to a sterling silver bezel cup, which I then set with a carnelian cabochon. A 3mm amber cabochon graces the wire loop that attaches to the earwire. Measuring an 1" in width and 2.5” in length from the bottom of the flower to the top of the earwire, the earrings have substantial weight (5.9 grams each), but are extremely comfortable to wear. I love how gently they swing and sway! I have titled this pair "Spanish Rose".
