My love affair with beading began with this bracelet. While my husband and I were vacationing on Maui, I happened into a bead shop in the charming town of Paia. There were strands of beads covering every available inch of wall space - they were even hanging from the ceiling! I was dazzled by the jewel-like brilliance and vibrant colors...pearls, crystals, vintage german glass, tubes of tiny seed beads all begging to be touched! Aside from stringing a few pony beads as a young girl, I'd never ventured into the art of beading. I thought it would be too tedious and I knew it would be very time consuming. I didn't think I'd have the patience for it. I like immediate gratification whenever possible! But then I noticed some finished bracelets in a display case and I just had to make one for myself! So with help from the staff, I chose all the beads I'd need for my bracelet project. I couldn't wait to start stitching! Needless to say, I didn't do much sight seeing or swimming on that vacation. I had found a new passion and devoted myself to beading for the duration of our stay on the island.
