And...
This is a bracelet that I made in Anne Mitchell's class at Bead & Button. It combines sterling silver with fine silver fused rings and a few rings that we made using PMC3. The long hammer textured bar at the top reminds me of an I.D. bracelet. Having been a metalsmith for well over twenty years, I knew how to do all of this. But what I needed a refresher course on was the Viking Knit technique that was used in the intricately woven lower portion. I had taken a three-hour class from Anne about five years ago in which we used Viking Knit to make a bracelet, but I was so enthused about learning how to bead that, upon arriving home from the show, I tucked the directions away in a drawer and they hadn't seen the light of day since then! Needless to say, I lost all memory of how to weave Viking Knit! With renewed interest, you can bet this weave will show up in my work. It offers so many possibilities. Can you imagine a length of Viking Knit graced with some lovely beaded end caps? I can...and that's just the tip of the iceberg!
