I’ve made a pair of beaded earrings to go with it (refer to my January 18, 2013 post if you haven’t seen the “Empress Ming” Cuff). I haven’t made very many beaded earrings before, but I’m finding that they are tremendous fun to make because they work up so rapidly. I especially like to create asymmetrical pieces because working on each earring is a new adventure! Inspired by Kate McKinnon’s book, “Contemporary Geometric Beadwork“, I’ve once again, employed a geometric triangular shape and a mini-winged tube bead (from my “Creative Components Wrap” pattern). Comprised of Delica beads, 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads, and embellished with brass gear beads, 4mm round matte onyx beads, and one glass spike, they dangle from oxidized handmade Argentium sterling earwires. Measuring a substantial 65mm in length, these earrings are feather-light in weight and have plenty of swing and sway. I almost forget that I’m wearing them!
