The last five days I’ve spent at the Bead and Button Show have been fun-filled, exhilarating, exhausting, and awakening. I’ve met with friends and participated in jewelry-making classes with like-minded individuals who share my passion for all things bead related! Being primarily self-taught in my art, I sometimes do things the hard way, but every time I take a class, I learn tricks of the trade that enhance my methods and make easier my tasks at the workbench. I learned how to make Viking Knit chain, refreshed my soldering skills, and played with cold enameling techniques. What fun it will be to use the new tools and supplies I purchased and I very much look forward to paging through Laura McCabe’s latest book, “Outside the Box”. Today marks the end of this year’s Bead and Button show for me, but also the beginning of even more creative endeavors. How sweet it is!
Goodbye Milwaukee. Goodbye Bead and Button!

Did you see Laura’s book? Is it worth getting?

Pat, the book is small, but more informative than her previous books. It is pricey ($38) because it is self-published using Blurb. I bought it because she was selling it at Bead and Button, so I didn’t have to pay shipping, which Blurb charges a lot for. I would not have purchased it if I had had to order through Blurb.
