I’ve found the perfect storage for my tubes of Delica beads. Stored upside down with the colors visible through the bottoms of the tubes, I can easily select the colors I want and it’s also easy to see which colors are running low and need to be reordered. I’d been storing the tubes in trays, but this is far more organized and takes up less space. I still use the tray system for storing the colors I’m presently working with, but it sprawls across my beading table and takes up valuable room. A tiered rack that makes each tube visible would certainly be the answer to the present mess on my workspace…I’ll have to search for such a device!
just throwing this out there as a beader who has not invested in delicas……….how much did your stash cost? In my neck of the woods small vials of delicas run $5 and it’s hardly enough to do more than one project.
Yes Anita, Delicas are quite expensive…no doubt about it. The stash shown here represents a lot of bucks…well over $2K, although I’ve been collecting them over time in small lots so it hasn’t broken my bank yet! Because I sell beading kits that use Delicas, I have to have more on hand and ready for filling kits than most beaders. Delicas are indeed more expensive than seed beads, but they really are required for some projects, especially geometric designs that require uniformly precise beads, which stack and line up evenly, contributing to the overall look of the piece.
Yes, your work is amazing, and you couldn’t get the same look with charlottes. I do a lot of netting, and stringing, etc. Nothing loomed or really structural. So I can get away with those beads. 🙂 I have 3 vial of tohos that I’m working up to a very fancy cab/embroidered piece. I love your stash! Thanks for replying and giving us a yummy peek!
