It happens every year at this time.  It is my modus operandi. As soon as our Midwest winter arrives and I am surrounded by bleak landscapes, bare trees, gloomy weather, and grey clouds…magic happens. All of a sudden my work becomes colorful! Tropical shades take over and I imagine that the pieces on my workbench start to dance and break into  calypso songs during the long, cold nights. I’m sure that subconsciously I deal with winter by letting color dominate my workaday world!

Polymer Clay - Tropical Flora - Bangle - Side View

This is my latest work in Polymer clay. I’ve titled this bangle “Tropical Flora” and it follows my “Climbing Roses” bangle, which I created last winter. Vibrantly colored polymer clay flowers, as well as a frog atop a lily pad grace a hammer-textured, wire-worked “trellis” bangle that I created on a jig. Wearing this “happy” piece is sure to send any winter blue mood on its way!
