I’m in the midst of working on a new geometric cuff, but I felt the need for a brief interlude. My incentive was a project that could be beaded quickly and worn for an upcoming special occasion. Several months ago I wrote a tutorial for the “Creative Components Wrap” (inspired by CGB Wings) and I turned to that design again to work up a fun neck wrap. I love a playful design that can be created with whatever components one may have on hand. In this latest piece the Delica beaded components follow the design I created for the tutorial, but this time I added many more stacked sequins, which look transparent under certain light. I also used a beaded bead that I’d made some time ago. It is composed of round seed beads, Swarovski bicone crystals and crystal pearls. The ends of the memory wire are encased in epoxy resin seashells…directions for making those and a beaded bead similar in shape to the one I used here are also included in the tutorial. I’m very pleased with this wrap…it’s a fun piece that I will enjoy wearing again and again!
More fun with the Creative Components Wrap!

Hi Barbara, I’m new to your website and your work. I love all your designs but especially what you’re doing with the Contemporary Geometric Beadwork. I’ve gotten hooked on Kate McKinnon’s book. I love the piece in this post. I also like how you finish the ends of the memory wire. So much more finished looking than the plain loop! I intend to order some of your patterns from you Etsy shop and I’ve subscribed to your blog. Looking forward to seeing more fabulous designs!
Thank you so much, Maryanne! Isn’t geometric beading wonderful! I had all but given up beading when geometric beading came on the scene and I’ve been addicted to it ever since! Kate’s books are so inspiring…I’m dying to see CGB volume 2!
Beautiful necklace. I know some of the materials are things you already had, but is there any chance you will do a similar kit? : )
Holly, I’m not planning on doing a kit for this because I already have a tutorial and kit listed in my Etsy shop for my original “Creative Components Wrap”, but I have just listed sequins (which I use as spacers in this design). Here’s the link:

And here’s a link to the original kit:

Thank you, Erika! I’m sure Volume II will be well worth the wait!…I would love to see a Volume III in the works as well!
